Why Choose a Great Western Metal Building for Industrial Use?

Great Western can design a metal building of virtually any size for your industrial needs with a host of customizable options. Beyond color choices and roof options, you’re free to decide the placement and type of windows, doors, and ventilation systems. For industrial use, our option of operable louvers and fans to accompany your choice of ventilation system can ensure a safe manufacturing environment. In addition, our team can design your structure to accommodate the ease of interior build-out. So, if you need a designated office area, your building can accommodate an interior steel, wooden, or hybrid structure.

We understand that your business is growing, and your space will need to grow with you. Fortunately, our designers can integrate a full-load rigid frame on one or two end walls that allow future expansion of the building’s length. Though allotting for future widening of your building is a lot more complex, our engineering and design team can certainly handle that if it’s what you desire.

Our designers have an intimate understanding of current International Building Code (IBC) requirements and have decades of experience designing buildings within the specs of various agencies, including local counties, the FAA, and more. So, whether you’re in an area that sees extreme weather conditions like heavy snowfall, substantial winds, or seismic activity or in an area with height restrictions, our team can provide you with the perfect building for your project.

How Much Is a Great Western Steel Building?

Typically, the starting cost of a steel building from Great Western is around $15 to $20 per square foot. However, certain factors can increase the cost of the building. For example, if you’re in an area with exceptionally high climate requirements, the added material needed to support the necessary reinforcements can increase the price. In addition, extra materials required for full-load framing on walls left for future expansion, as mentioned above, can bring the price up, too. Finally, added load capability for things like a crane system in the roof also adds more materials that increase the price. Ultimately, the price of your building boils down to all of your unique project specifics. Rest assured that our team of experts is here to help ensure your project stays within your budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of ventilation is available for my metal building?

Great Western Building Systems offers several different ventilation systems for your structure, including cupolas, circular vents, and ridge vents. Options like operable or static louvers and fans allow you to optimize your ideal ventilation system completely for your specific needs.

What is the difference between a top-running and an under-hung bridge crane?

Great Western Building Systems offers several different ventilation systems for your structure, including cupolas, circular vents, and ridge vents. Options like operable or static louvers and fans allow you to optimize your ideal ventilation system completely for your specific needs.

What is hook height and how is it determined?

A crane’s hook height is the amount of clearance beneath a crane’s hook. Building height, crane system type, and needed capacity are all factors that affect a system’s hook height. If you already have a crane supplier and a specific system selected, our designers can design your metal building to accommodate it based on your necessary clearance. If you’re unsure which crane system you need, simply inform your designer how much clearance you need, and we will assist you in selecting one.

If our building is used for manufacturing or storage and that process uses, stores, or creates corrosive products, will this void any of our warranties?

Notify your Great Western representative of any chemicals that may come in contact with your steel building structure. A handful of products at your disposal can limit or protect your building from direct exposure to harmful chemicals and materials. However, if your building is exposed to an abnormally corrosive environment and there are no proper maintenance procedures enacted or preventative measures taken, there is a good chance that it will fall outside of your warranty. We provide customers with a complete maintenance guide and log of each building we manufacture upon request, which can help ensure you’re taking proper care of your steel structure. Discussing these potential corrosion issues with our team up front can help clarify whether or not your warranty will be voided.
