Great Western’s steel buildings are engineered to meet the demands of high occupancy community facilities.
The clear span design capability of our steel buildings are perfect for large meeting spaces because there’s no interference from interior columns.
Engineered to be erected inexpensively and quickly, Great Western buildings are easily outfitted with an assortment of exterior architectural features to enhance the beauty of the structure. The facilities can be designed with portico awnings for covered loading and unloading areas; framing and structural support for masonry walls; hipped buildings with multiple roof lines and other features to enhance the look of your community facility.
At Great Western, we’ll work with you, your architect, your General Contractor and anyone else to help you get the community center perfect for your organization - at a budget you can afford.
With Great Western’s easy to read erection manuals and 24/7 support line, you can feel comfortable that you’re not getting yourself into something you can’t handle. Our team not only sells and designs pre-fabricated steel buildings, but we also build them! Your sales team’s been in the field, they’ve been in the fabrication facilities, and they know, first hand, what to expect during the erection process.
Not only can you expect a precision crafted steel building kit to arrive on time, but you can expect support through the entire erection process. It’s not just the quality of what we deliver that makes us exceptional, it’s the quality of design. Great Western’s engineers have an intimate understanding of the aesthetic requirements and functionality of a community meeting facility. Several things make Great Western’s engineers the pre-engineered steel building industry’s best:
Unfortunately we do not employee civil engineers, architects or MEP designers. We can however coordinate with and even help you find experienced civil design folks. For any steel building ordered through us we will handle all of the structural engineering and design/detailing of the building envelope. This includes energy efficiency analysis if necessary.
This is a question that we get a lot. The IBC has recommended that occupancy ratings be set no lower than 7 square feet per person for areas with concentrated use of seating or standing. In areas that don’t have concentrated seating, like classrooms or work areas, should have 36 square feet per person. This means, for 150 people at least 1050 square feet is needed for seating. Areas designed for other uses may need to be considerably larger.
The first thing to consider is that interior columns that support the building rafters only become economical on buildings when spans become greater than 60-70’ depending on roof loads. As the width or span of the building goes up so does the potential cost saving of adding interior columns. Many times these columns can be concealed within interior walls or in areas that don’t require uninterrupted clear space.
One of the best things for fundraising is to provide visuals of what the goal of the fundraising is. We can provide architectural renderings of the finished building project for your organization to use in its social media and other print advertising. These are professional renderings that present your ideas to your audience.
