Agricultural Steel Building FAQ's

  • Is a full concrete floor required for my building?
    • Absolutely not! Many steel building for Agricultural use and storage are built without a concrete floor. All that is required is a proper foundation where the building columns attach to the anchor bolts. Dirt, Gravel or Asphalt floors can always have a floating slab installed in the future.

  • What kind of ventilation is available for my building?
    • We can provide your steel building with many different venting options. We supply several types of ridge vents in a variety of optional colors. Vents come operable with dampers or without dampers. We also supply louvers both operable and non-operable, with and without fans, circular vents and cupolas. Visit our components page for more details.

  • Slider Door vs. Garage Door, which is better?
    • We are firm believers that overhead sectional doors are the superior option for nearly every application. These doors are easy to install, cost effective, require minimum maintenance and look great. Our sectional doors ship vendor direct and can be installed with vertical or high lift tracks and can even follow the roof pitch if clearance is a concern. Best of all, you don’t have to worry about dirt, rocks and ice building up in the track like you do with a slider.

  • What is the difference between flush and bypass wall girts?
    • Bypass wall girts run on the outside flange of the primary building columns. A flush system has the outside flange of the girt in-line with the outside flange. Because a flush girt terminates at the web of the building column they do not gain the strength of the overlap that is part of the bypass system. This is why a flush girt system is typically heavier and slightly more expensive than the stronger and more efficient bypass system. Roof purlins may also be run in a bypass or flush configuration.
