Occasionally, HOA and county restrictions prevent a building from having steel siding or roofs. In addition, some folks prefer the look of other sidings. Fortunately, Great Western Buildings steel building kits can easily be outfitted with siding like Stucco, vinyl, Hardie Board, and brick. Furthermore, customers can outfit their metal buildings with roof systems like tile and asphalt shingle.
Reaping the benefits of a resilient and durable metal building while retaining the look of a traditional home is as simple as siding the building with wood rather than GWB’s typical steel siding and roof panels. From there, your building can be finished with any materials you desire, just like with lumber construction.
Whether you’re planning on turning your new steel building into a full-blown residence, such as a barndominium or standard home, or you’re adding a shop, garage, or storage facility to your property, the siding and roof options are up to you.
Examples of Great Western steel buildings with alternative siding and roof solutions are below.
This metal building, owned by our customers Keith and Debbie in Clark County, Nevada, provides a great insight into the flexibility of a metal building. Their 30 x 48 metal building is an addition to their Vegas residential property. Keith is passionate about vintage cars and wanted a personal shop to work on Hot Rods. However, his building authority required that the building match the main structure on the property. So, this steel building has a tile roof, stucco siding, and even a brick wainscot on its exterior walls.
This building in the Colorado mountains is one of the most aesthetically pleasing alternative exterior finishes we’ve seen. The customer wanted this building to store their snowcats. To match the rustic look of the property, the home, and other buildings on the property, the customer wanted the durability and resilience of a metal building combined with the look of a classic mountain structure. The solution was a gorgeous cedar plank exterior with weathering panels for the wainscot and roof – we just can’t get enough of this one!
