Jay, a Great Western Buildings customer, purchased and erected his dream building. His barndominium in Arizona is a staple example of using a metal building to achieve the best of both worlds. It doesn’t matter whether you call it a Barndominium, a Shouse, or a multi-use building. Undoubtedly, this beautiful home and shop combo is a perfect example.
Jay told us that he and his 16-year-old son tackled the entire project, from dirt work to the interior buildout.
“The cement took us a while because it’s 6,400 square feet…me and my 16-year-old kid; I told him it’s not that hard to do this, we’ll do it ourselves. We built this by ourselves from the cement and dirt work all the way up to the entire thing,” Jay told GWB.
Jay’s building is a phenomenal example of the Barndominium style. On one end, it’s a beautifully finished and furnished two-story living space. In addition, the remainder is an expanded garage and shop space.
“I walk out the back door, and I’m already in my extended garage…I got all my toys in here, and rain, whatever, wind, I’m inside the whole time,” said Jay.
In other words, the result is truly what dreams are made of for folks who want to live, work, and play in the same space.
Jay explained that he had drawn up the building as he wanted. Afterwards, he turned to Great Western Buildings to get the product he desired.
“I got bumped to the top, and I met Eric, Nicole, and Tyler…those are the people that helped walk me through everything it took for me to do. They answered all the questions. They sent me emails, sent me drawings, whatever I needed to help get me through this. So, a lot of respect,” said Jay.
Overall, Jay reports that his experience with GWB is satisfactory.
