Jay, a Great Western customer from Castle Rock, Colorado, owns an automotive storage facility called Castle Rock Auto Storage. As one might imagine, when you’re in the business of storing cars, you typically need a pretty large facility. That’s why Jay turned to Great Western for his massive 85 x 280 steel building. Jay took the time to answer some questions about his nearly 24,000-square-foot building for our YouTube channel.
The complications of storing cars for clients go beyond just needing space to park them. Of course, the vehicles have to be able to move freely throughout the building as customers come to pick them up, move them around, and so on. There wasn’t really a readily available building that suited his needs. So, Jay told GWB about his decision to go with this steel building for his business’s home after shopping around for a structure that checks all of the necessary boxes.
“After reaching out to Great Western Buildings, they designed a building for me that was specific to what I needed, had all the features and functionality that I needed, and in the time frame that I needed. Since I’m going to be putting four rows of cars in here, I needed the span wide enough that I could pull cars out into the center aisle,” said Jay.
In addition to the specific door placement and fire suppression systems, Jay also wanted this building heated to keep customer cars in top shape.
“I needed to have extensive insulation, so I’ve got R25 in the walls, I’ve got R38 in the ceiling, and we also put some ventilation along the ceiling in order to keep it from getting too hot during the summer,” said Jay.
Jay says several factors went into his decision to go with GWB for his building. After some shopping around, he decided to reach out to our team.
“There were two deciding factors that I decided to go with. One was I wanted someone in Colorado, and I also wanted someone who was local…because as I went through the design phase, I could actually meet face to face. It didn’t have to be over the phone,” said Jay.
We’re happy to report that Jay’s overall experience with purchasing and receiving his building was a positive one. He gave special shoutouts to GWB team members Michael and and Tyler for helping ensure the building ticked all his boxes.
“They delivered the building; six trucks full of parts. Out of that I only came up three panels short. They immediately got on it, and before I needed those panels, my panels were on site. They solved the problem immediately, “ said Jay.
Jay’s building is a great example of the benefits of the wide clear span that a steel building from Great Western offers. With the wide-open floor plan, the usable square footage for something like parking and moving a fleet of cars is highly beneficial. We’re glad to hear that Jay had a great experience with GWB and wish him the best of luck with his automotive storage business! Based on some of the killer cars in the building already, it seems like he’s off to a great start!
