Tom, one of our awesome customers from Sandy, Utah, wanted a home sports facility for himself and his family. Tom started with his blank canvas 40 x 65 x 18 metal building kit from Great Western and turned it into an indoor basketball and sports lover’s dream facility, complete with a full basketball court, digital scoreboard, volleyball court, and more.
Tom’s project is a phenomenal representation of what is possible with the versatility of a metal building. Further demonstrating that concept, he says as time moves forward and his family’s interests change, the building will be amorphous and change to accommodate whatever they want to use it for. Known as “The Shed,” this building has high-rise windows and a large overhead door that vehicles can easily fit through. So, the potential uses for this building are virtually limitless.
Tom says that the series of videos on how to erect our metal buildings on the Great Western Buildings YouTube channel were very helpful and that he routinely watched them before his building was delivered. In addition, he praised our team for answering questions and being patient with him as he shopped around.
“I kept coming back to the person helping me. He was willing to answer my questions when I had a lot of them and it took a long time, and he didn’t get frustrated with me for how long it took me when looking at the other competition. He was able to educate me on the reasons I should pick (GWB) versus the other people and even some local companies here in Utah that weren’t even using the correct snow loads and things like that,” Tom told GWB.
“The building process was awesome – amazing if you like to build. It was very self-explanatory…it was one of the funnest projects I’ve done in a long time. Me and my son had a lot of time out here where we would stay out here and work until it was dark putting things together,” said Tom.
Overall, Tom’s building stands out as one of our favorite projects with a Great Western Building steel building. Not only does it show how creatively they can be used, it also highlights the flexibility that enables a long-lasting pre-engineered metal building to become whatever you want it to be. From basic storage to an indoor basketball court, the options are endless.
