Our awesome customer out of Larkspur, Colorado, Dave, was kind enough to give us a tour of his completed Great Western Steel building. A devout car enthusiast for life, Dave wanted a shop to work on all of his projects. However, he also wanted it to blend well with its picturesque surroundings in the mountains as well as match the log cabin home on the property. We love seeing buildings with unique finishes and siding, and this one is an absolute home run!
In our interview, Dave explained his choice to go with a steel building instead of building another wooden structure to match his house.
“Steel lasts forever, and everything I do, I want to last, and I don’t do things cheap. I do them the best that you can do them,” Dave told Great Western.
Most folks assume the tradeoff of opting for a metal building kit means sacrificing the ability to use different types of siding. However, adding non-steel siding to one of our building kits is something we’ve seen a lot! In Dave’s case, he used real log siding and real rocks for the veneer, giving his building the perfect combination of traditional cabin appearance with the benefits of a robust and dependable steel building.
“When you’re a car guy, you’ve got to have a badass garage!” said Dave.
We concur! Of course, adding a lifetime structural warranty to that badass garage makes it even better!
Dave is happy with his shop and is already making great use of it! He did, however, share the same sentiment that we see with a lot of customers. That is, the desire to have gone with a bigger building.
“I only built a 40 by 50 building, which fills up very fast. I wish it was a 50 by 100,” Dave told us.
This is a recurring theme we’ve seen a lot! If you’ve got space, you’ll find a way to use it. So, a lot of our customers reflect the same concept. If you’re going to put up a building, go as big as you can afford!
We’re happy to have played a part in bringing Dave’s dream garage into reality. Furthermore, we’re grateful that Dave gave us the opportunity to come out and take a tour of his completed building. The authentic wood and rock siding makes this a phenomenally unique project and we think it came out terrific!
