Frequently Asked Questions
How much wider does my building need to be than the hangar door?
The metal building width required to accommodate a hangar door varies on type and size of door. Most Bi-fold and hydraulic doors will require 3-5 feet of space on both sides of the door to accommodate the necessary framing.
Can Great Western help me find the right hangar door for my building?
Yes! We have partnered with several well-known companies manufacturing a variety of doors types. All we need to know are the height and width specifications of the door you need and our team will present you with several options.
Is a bi-fold door the best option for my hangar?
If your hanger door is going to be 60’ or smaller, experience tells us that a bi-fold will be the most economical, easiest to design for and are very durable. For doors wider than 60-70’ you may want to consider a stackable sliding door system.
I have height restrictions for my hangar, can Great Western help?
Yes, our team is available to help you work through the approval and design process of your hangar with the airport authority and the FAA. We are more than happy to speak directly to the building authority on your behalf if you wish.
