“The steel erection crew got here and they got the project up in a little less than a week.”
This metal building, owned by our customers Keith and Debbie in Clark County, Nevada, provides a great insight into the flexibility of a metal building. Their 30 x 48 metal building is an addition to their Vegas residential property. Keith is passionate about vintage cars and wanted a personal shop to work on Hot Rods.
Keith and Debbie were tasked with meeting strict county restrictions that don’t allow metal siding in residential areas. They sided the building with stucco to match their home and meet the county’s requirements, and driving by, you wouldn’t even know it’s a metal building from the outside.
“You have to match the material to your main structure. It’s a county and HOA requirement…they have a tremendous amount of rules and regulations, and after every item that gets completed, you have to have an inspection before you move on to the next item,” Keith told GWB.
Keith explains that the erection process, aside from the permitting and inspections, was fairly quick and straightforward.
“The steel erection crew got here, and they got the project up in a little less than a week. Once we got to that point, it moved quickly,” Keith said.
Keith explained that he and Debbie had done the siding themselves. Save for waiting on deliveries from vendors, Keith explains that his recent retirement allowed for them to focus on the project and get it done in a timely manner.
Overall, this is one of our favorite projects because it indeed shows the flexibility of a steel building kit. With the simple option of covering the structure with wood instead of steel siding, traditional methods like Stucco, brick veneer, and more become feasible. In addition, the tile roof shows that, whether for personal preference or county requirements, your building doesn’t have to look like a steel building if you don’t want it to.
