Joey, the pastor from Desert Rock Church, spent some time with Great Western to talk about his congregation’s building, a Great Western steel building kit. This is the congregation’s first building, as they started as a “drive-in” church during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The building is a 60 x 60 Great Western steel building. With the interior buildout, Joey reports that it can support about 240 people for their church services. In addition to traditional church services, they host various teen and kids church groups.
“Our worship center is really cool. With the steel building, we were able to keep the supports and paint them black. I like to think of them as racing stripes on our worship center. We wanted a party barn for Jesus,” said Joey.
Joey says that the construction process of the building took a bit longer than they had anticipated because of delays surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. They broke ground on the building in January 2021 expecting it to take about six months, but it didn’t finish until December. Fortunately, in more recent years, these pandemic delays are a virtually non-existent factor.
“You can imagine we were very excited to get in for Christmas,” said Joey.
“We were looking into steel buildings and he (Eric Beavers, GWB Founder) was so helpful. Him and his team. Getting us prints and helping us get set up on a hybrid steel and wood building that ended up being an amazing worship center for us,” said Joey.
We’re happy to have helped Joey and his congregation step into their perfect house of worship. This project truly showcases the flexibility and potential surrounding a steel building. The integration of gorgeous landscaping, as well as a beautiful interior buildout, truly showcases what is possible with a basic start.
